Our ACSI Math Olympics GCA Representatives

Every year, GCA participates in the ACSI Math Olympics event, which allows students an opportunity to compete amongst their peers as well as with students from other schools. The objectives of Math Olympics are to stimulate an interest in mathematics, recognize the achievements of students in mathematics, provide an opportunity to engage with other mathematics-oriented students and to offer students an opportunity to glorify God in the use of their mathematical abilities beyond the classroom situation. All students in grades 3-8 compete within their classroom each year by taking an unannounced 11-minute test in the categories of computation and reasoning. Three winners in each category, per grade, are selected to represent GCA in the regional competition which is held on-site. Each year we have many students who receive ribbons for placing in the top five for each category, and last year one of our students finished the Math Olympics competition with a perfect score! Each of today’s participants had already won competitions in their individual classrooms, and are now competing against other students in their region!
